Hope is a word that can conjure up immediate feelings of joy, faith, inspiration. It's often associated with Breast Cancer, as bringing hope to those diagnosed and learning to cope can go a long way. From words of encouragement to extending a helping hand and showing kindness, hope can be game changing.
Hope can provide inspiration and faith to those who need it most. Your efforts don’t have to be extravagant. They only need to be sincere and thoughtful. We all deserve to feel loved and cared for. Whether it is coming from your romantic partner, family or friends, its reassuring to know somebody loves and cares about you. We may never know what people are going through, and letting them know we cares provides hope and inspires positivity.
Here are six ways to spread sunshine and bring hope to the lives of others.
1. Let others feel they deserve happiness
One reasons why people lose hope is they think they don’t deserve to be happy. Everybody deserves happiness. If there’s someone you know who has this mindset, it’s time you do something about it. No matter the circumstances, there are many things we can be happy about.
2. Show acceptance
No one is perfect. We are flawed and imperfect in different ways. However, there are times when we feel we’re not enough, that we’re not sufficient. Show people you accept and care for them, just as they are. Show unconditional love.
3. Offer help
People need a helping hand. We all do. If you know someone who needs help, offer support. No matter how little help you can offer, it will mean so much to someone struggling. Be specific, it's easier to accept help with clear options. Ask if you can set up a meal train, run errands, take kids on an outing etc.
4. Show appreciation
It isn’t everyday we hear a compliment or appreciation from someone. If you think a person deserves recognition for an accomplishment or something good they did, let them know. It will be more than enough to put a smile on their faces.
5. Help them find their passion
People driven by passion are happier and more hopeful. They are the ones who have a better direction and know their purpose. However, there are also those who can’t seem to find their purpose or feel like they’ve lost their track. Help people by reminding them of their strengths. Remind them of the things they are good at and the things they love doing.
6. Stay connected
If there’s anything anyone needs in this world, it’s time and presence in each other's lives. More than material things and possessions, there’s no better gift we can give our loved ones than our time. Nothing can substitute the time you spend with those who need it. Be there to celebrate with them when they’re happy, and comfort others when they’re sad. It may be a simple gesture but it’s more than enough to make others feel blessed and hopeful.
Life will always has ups and downs. During challenging times a word of encouragement and gestures of kindness are most beneficial. Take time to sprinkle kindness and bring hope to others.
